Food insecurity means not knowing if you can reliably put enough food on the table. Nearly 1 in 6 of our Birmingham neighbors face the worry of choosing between buying groceries, paying rent, filling up the gas tank, or covering medical bills.


Don’t get us wrong, food insecurity itself isn’t a choice but a matter of chance. Somedays you may have more than enough to fill up your cup but others you might be a little more down on your luck.


That’s where Somedays comes in. As a pay-what-you-can cafe, we believe that everyone deserves a seat at the table, regardless of means. We know one cafe cannot solve food insecurity. That work takes policy, access, systems, and long-term change. But we can meet people in the middle of real life with a smile, good food, and a place where no one has to explain how they are able to show up today.


Somedays exists to make sure good food, dignity, and community are available to everyone—no questions asked.

Two years in the making and we’re finally here! After many (many) coffee convos, countless meetings, and lots of dreaming. Meet Somedays - a nonprofit pay-what-you-can cafe for downtown Birmingham! We believe everyone deserves a seat at the table - regardless of their means. We believe food is about more than what’s on your plate. It’s about connection, dignity, and the simple joy of sharing a meal together. Today, we’re launching our website and officially kicking off fundraising to bring this vision to life. Every dollar raised will help us: - Sponsor pay-what-you-can pop-ups throughout Birmingham, serving nourishing meals to everyone, including our neighbors experiencing hunger - Get people talking, learning, and thinking differently about food insecurity and the neighbors it affects - Take one step closer to opening a permanent Somedays right here in downtown Birmingham This is just the beginning and we can’t do it alone. Birmingham has a food insecurity problem—but we believe that together, we can help. One plate at a time. As some of you may know, I’m starting Somedays Cafe: a nonprofit, pay-what-you-can cafe where everyone gets a dignified, delicious meal—regardless of means. We’re still getting the paperwork, people, and funds in place, so in the meantime… we POP UP! For my 30th birthday, we served 120+ amazing people at our first pay-what-you-can pop up and raised $2,500 for @jonesvalleyteachingfarm thanks to this wildly generous community. These pop ups will raise money for local nonprofits and show that this model works. Because some days you have more than enough to pour into others. Some days you need a little help.
